If you are looking for a new heating and cooling system, geothermal is an option that you should consider. Geothermal heating and cooling is very energy efficient and durable, and it is designed to last much longer than traditional HVAC equipment. However, it can also be more work to install because drilling is often required.
Geothermal heating and cooling systems use the heat from the ground and transfer it to your home. However, in order to get to the heat naturally stored beneath the earth, you need pipes installed below or around your house to circulate the liquid that absorbs the heat. Installing a series of pipes under the earth requires digging trenches or drilling a hole, both of which need specific equipment and skills to be performed properly.
RineAir Heating & Air Conditioning has installed many different geothermal systems throughout the area. We have years of experience in geothermal drilling in Cincinnati so you can be sure that we will be able to install your new system correctly and with minimal damage to your yard.
Horizontal and Vertical Loop Systems
If you having a geothermal heating and cooling system installed, you’ll need to decide if you want a horizontal or vertical loop system. Horizontal loop systems are usually installed by digging trenches and then laying down the pipes over a large area. While generally less work than installing a vertical loop system, it requires a much more land for the pipes to run through because they are much closer to the surface.
Vertical loops are a good option if you have very harsh winters where the ground stays frozen for long periods of time. They take less area to install and they are able to draw from stronger heat sources that are deeper in the earth. If you have a small yard, vertical pipes will still allow you to take advantage of the geothermal heating and cooling.
Vertical loop installation requires geothermal drilling, and that needs special equipment and training to be done correctly. While this method might take longer, vertical loop systems are often more powerful than horizontal systems. If you are interested in having a vertical loop system installed in your home, give the Cincinnati geothermal drilling experts at RineAir Heating & Air Conditioning a call!
